The 10th day of Yule!
The 10th day of Yule!
Standing in front of your Alter, Light a white candle and from it a Frankincense incense. Inhale the incense in and recite the prayer to the God Baldur.
Prayer to Baldur
Hail Bright One of Asgard,
Favorite Son who came to ashes.
You who fled your destiny
Only to see it come true,
Help me to see what must be done
And have the courage to do it,
Even when it will hurt those I love
And who love me, beyond cost.
Teach me how to show them
That walking the destined road Straightaway,
without hesitation Is the path of less pain in the end.
Teach me how to show myself
That it will all come right in the end,
And that if does not come right
There is solace in finding
Something good in the rubble.
Help me, Bright One,
Torch in the darkness,
Light the hard path I must walk
And let me not mistake it
For the whim of an evil Universe.
Baldur (Balder, Baldr, Bealdor, Balþraz), of the Aesir: The Bright One. His name means “Shining Day.” Odin's second son, he is the God of Love, Light, Beauty, Loyalty, Innocence, and Rebirth. He is sacrificed at Midsummer by the dart of the mistletoe, and is reborn at Yule. He is married to the Goddess of Joy, Nanna, and is father to Forseti. He was slain by his blind brother Hodur whose hand was guided by the evil Loki, and will return after Ragnarok.
