Solstice/Yule Full Moon blessings!
Solstice/Yule Full Moon blessings!
Standing in front of your Alter, Light a white candle and from it a Myrrh, Vanilla or Peppermint incense. Inhale the incense in and recite the prayer to the Moon Goddess Mani.
Since we are on the start of the full moon, recite this prayer:
Full
Hail to Mani, shimmering silver,
flooding the dark night
with white light blazing brilliant.
You who appear in the evening,
whole and holy on the horizon.
On this night (or day) of all nights,
look down on me with blessings full and finished.
Hail to Mani, perfect pearl of the sky.
Monday likewise comes from Old English “Mōnandæg,” named after Máni
In Norway, the first day of the week is the day of the moon, named after the god Mani, or Måne in Norwegian. It was considered very bold of his parents to name him after the moon, so he suffered a terrible fate: he had to pull the moon across the sky with his chariot for all his days.
What to do on mandag: Since your week is beginning, it’s a great time to think about what you are going to do until the weekend—and plan for some fun activities for sure!
Mani (Manni) the God of the moon and brother of the sun Goddess Sol. Máni "guides the path of the moon and controls its waxing and waning." Máni is followed through the heavens by the brother and sister children Hjuki and Bil.
A man named Vidfinn had two children named Hjuki and Bil. He sent them to the well Byrgir to fetch a cask of water. When Mani saw the two children he took them away with him to the moon. The two children, together with their cask and pole, can be seen on the face of the moon (the moon spots). This myth is said to be the origin of the nursery rhyme about Jack and Jill.
