Prayer for the departed

Prayer for the departed for All Hallow's Eve!

What All Hallows’ Eve Is:

All Hallows’ Eve is the Christian vigil before All Saints’ Day (November 1), established to honor all saints and martyrs. The evening before — All Hallows’ Eve — became associated with:

  • Prayers for the dead
  • Church services and vigils
  • Lighting candles for departed loved ones
  • Soul cakes and charitable giving

In medieval Europe, practices such as souling (going door to door asking for food in exchange for prayers for the dead) emerged. These customs later influenced Halloween traditions.
